In 1850, William Dudley, founder of the Jonhston & Murphy footwear company, played his reputation to successfully convince President Millard Fillmore and to have a pair of shoe custom made for him. Since then, all the United States Presidents have worn Johnston & Murphy. It’s part of a tradition.
