Calzados RIA has been working in the shoe industry for more than 60 years. Bartolomé Truyol was the driving force of the business in 1947, and after passing through different stages, this company has become one of the main companies making “Avarques from Menorca”.
Carlos Truyol Serra followed his father’s steps and now runs the family company after some years working side by side to learn the shoemaking trade. The second generation of this family company has managed to turn the traditional footwear of the Island into a fashion product that has fans from all around Spain and also in countries such as Italy, Great Britain and France.
One of the main features of the company is innovation and its investment in design and fashion, with a collection of about 300 models of different avarques every season. This brand has been a pioneer in making avarques with a wedge sole, heels from 3.5 to 7 cm; laser die-cut uppers and also hand-painted by a master craftswoman from Menorca, which share a prominent role with the traditional country sandals with tyre soles.
